Beginning in 2018, Gomer Collective was born from the culmination of ideas of Ally and Andrew. For years, Ally and Andrew had found a love and a joy from creating and sharing their own art and crafts. After several different entrepreneurial failures, Ally and Andrew were seeking a way to share their creative passion with those around them. Gomer Collective was born out of failures, successes, and a passion for creating.
Our goal is to provide affordable home decor with a story behind each piece.
Our vision is to fill homes with meaningful decor that are conversation pieces, not merely something hanging on the wall or sitting on the coffee table. We want you to surround lives with encouragement, joy, and community.
The namesake Gomer comes from the story of Gomer and Hosea in the Bible. Hosea was a prophet for God and was anguished with the Israelite people for continually falling away from God. While Hosea was a faithful prophet and devoted lover of God, Gomer was a different story. In Hosea 1:2, God commanded Hosea to “Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord.” Hosea did as God commanded and married a woman named Gomer. Gomer ran off and fell back into her old promiscuous ways. Instead of Hosea giving up and leaving her, he pursued her endlessly and loved her dearly. Hosea realized that God's plan for him was not for him to struggle with a broken woman, but to love her endlessly. God sent Hosea to Gomer, because He wanted to show Hosea a glimpse of God's own heart with the Israelite people.
We are much like Gomer. We are constantly failing God and running away from Him and back into our own sinful nature. However just as Hosea pursued Gomer, God pursues us. That is why we chose the namesake Gomer Collective. It serves as a reminder that no matter how far we fall, our God's love is farther reaching and his pursuit is endless.
